Learn how vacuum insulating class (VIG) units are different from typical architectural insulating glass units (IGUs) and how VIG technologies can meet a vast range of needs, ranging from energy savings and occupant comfort to acoustic improvement. This course also examines the energy performance of VIG units compared to traditional product options and reviews specific code requirements that VIG products can meet and exceed.

Using Glass to Reduce Embodied and Operational Carbon discusses how energy-efficient architectural glass products can reduce both embodied and operational carbon. The course will help learners understand the definition of embodied carbon and operational carbon, find information about the amount of embodied carbon in a manufactured product, strategically select combinations of low-emissivity (low-e) coatings and glass substrates to reduce a building's energy usage and embodied carbon and prepare for challenges that may negatively impact a project's embodied carbon reduction goals.

Understanding Low-e Coatings provides an introduction to how high-performance architectural glass can significantly improve the energy efficiency of buildings while reducing their operating costs and carbon emissions. This course provides in-depth information about the solar energy spectrum and common glass performance measures, including the manufacturing processes for passive and solar control low-e coatings and how the energy, environmental, and economic benefits of low-e glass are quantified.
