Vitro Architectural Glass introduces Acuity® Glass sample kit

Side-by-side sample comparison highlights clarity, value of new low-iron glass offering

PITTSBURGH, October 1, 2018 — Vitro Architectural Glass (formerly PPG Glass) announced that a new sample kit featuring Acuity® low-iron glass is available at www.vitroglazings.com/acuity.

The kit contains a pair of insulating glass units (IGUs) – one featuring Acuity® glass with a Solarban® 60 solar control, low-emissivity (low-e) coating and another with conventional clear glass and the same coating. A brochure complete with performance data and information about production sizes, fabrication and availability also is included.

Glenn T. Miner, director, construction, Vitro Architectural Glass, said the kit is designed to let architects and specifiers see the distinct color differences between Acuity® low-iron glass and conventional clear glass. “Regular clear glass has a slight green cast that is readily apparent when you see it next to the Acuity® glass sample,” he explained. “The kit very clearly demonstrates the aesthetic upgrade that a modest investment in Acuity® glass can make for architects and specifiers seeking to enhance the appearance and performance of their buildings.”

Acuity® glass is formulated for use with the complete family of Solarban® solar control, low-e glasses, including Solarban® 60, Solarban® R67, Solarban® 72, Solarban® 90 and Solarban® R100 glasses. When paired with these products in a standard one-inch IGU, Acuity® glass can achieve visible light transmittance (VLT) of up to 73 percent and solar heat gain coefficients (SHGCs) ranging from 0.23 to 0.41. The clarity of Acuity® glass also makes it ideal for monolithic spandrel glass applications where true-color rendition is desired.

Available through members of the Vitro Certified® Network, coated and uncoated Acuity® glass can be ordered in production sizes of 96-by-130, 100-by-144 and 130-by-204 inches.
